SDPI carried out study in which a series of focus group discussions were carried out at provincial level, to acquire inputs from private sector as to what they would like to see as part of the next pre-election manifestos. SDPI has documented these inputs and communicated to the political party heads and information secretaries. The key objective is to organize and document inputs from the private sector on desired economic reforms which can result in a reduction of cost of doing business, through a process of informed dialogue, and communicate the same to party secretariats and manifesto preparation committees. Objectives Dissemination of research and proceedings documented after SDPI’s country-wide consultations on revenue mobilisation and provincial tax harmonisation. Informing parliamentarians regarding the need to institutionalise public private dialogue (PPD) as an instrument for sustained reforms of taxation at national and sub-national levels. Leverage meetings with parliamentarians to communicate key messages in draft economic manifesto to senior leadership of mainstream political parties. Establishment of a multi-tier Public-Private Dialogue forum including political representatives, government officials, private sector leaders, academicians, media-personnel, and think tanks.
SDPI ran a post-election economic analysis campaign supported by CIPE. This year we are following up on the previous consultations by iterating the Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) model furthermore. This tear focused on having post-election economic analysis, creation of a provincial network of think tanks, private sector associations, academia and entrepreneurs for sustainability of the PPD.
